Firewroks Town: Reinventing Tradition – Youth Creativity Lights Up the Night
The growth target for 2025 is set at around 6%. In recent years, an increasing number of young professionals have entered this traditional industry. What innovative sparks have they ignited with fireworks?
Every firework’s position, sequence, and timing are programmed with precision—creating multidimensional visual artistry.
Mr Li Junhui, General Manager of Hunan Liuyang Zhongnan Fireworks Display Co., Ltd., explains: “This is the fuse of our product, and here is our electronic ignition head. By connecting the fuse, we achieve electronic ignition. When linked to the distribution box, the main control unit—pre-programmed with the firing sequence—operates with millisecond precision, achieving an accuracy of 0.001 seconds.”
From rolling paper and applying clay bases, to assembling flowerpot frames, loading gunpowder, and final packaging – producing dazzling fireworks requires eight key manufacturing steps before the grand display.
In Dayao Town, the heart of firework production, abundant local resources such as timber and sulphur enable streamlined, on-site material sourcing—optimizing both efficiency and tradition.
While mastering launch trajectories and rhythmic choreography, our next-generation products are digitally transforming the traditional fireworks sector.
In recent years, fireworks displays have evolved into immersive, creative spectacles by integrating multi-sensory elements such as sound, light, electricity, projection, and flame—enhanced by drone formations. The industry now offers a diverse portfolio of over 5,000 specialized firework varieties.
Through material innovation, our next-generation fireworks employ smoke-free combustible compounds as the base material. When blended with metallic powders and advanced additives, the final product achieves an 80% reduction in smoke emissions, while extending burn duration by approximately 20%.
"A River of Poetry, A Sky of Fireworks" – Today in Dayao Town, post-90s millennials now make up approximately 25% (around 11,000 individuals) of the fireworks industry workforce, with this figure growing annually. These next-generation ‘sky artists’ approach the canvas of the heavens with professional dedication. Through relentless innovation and technical mastery, these young visionaries are redefining this thousand-year-old legacy—writing ever more spectacular chapters.
