Changsha Customs has announced that Hunan Province exported fireworks and firecrackers worth 2.96 billion yuan in the first seven months of this year. This is a year-on-year increase of 23.5%. It accounts for 59.5% of the national total value of fireworks and firecrackers exported.
In the first seven months, Changsha City exported fireworks and firecrackers worth 2.75 billion yuan, an increase of 23.1%, accounting for 93% of the province's total value of fireworks and firecrackers exports; Zhuzhou City exported 210 million yuan, up 27.1%; Changde City exported 2.088 million yuan.
In recent years, Chinese fireworks have started using intelligent robots and developing low-smoke and smoke-free propellants. These meet EU environmental standards and have made Chinese fireworks popular in other countries. Meanwhile, some companies have made it easier for different industries to work together by using 3D printing and drone technologies to make fireworks designs to order, meeting the personalised needs of high-end clients in Europe and the United States. In the first seven months of the year, Hunan Province exported 990 million yuan worth of fireworks to the United States, which was 33.3% of the province's total fireworks exports. Exports to the EU reached 1.07 billion yuan, which was a 78.4% increase, and accounted for 36.1% of the province's total fireworks exports.
Last year, the European market experienced a 'fireworks boom,' with distributors buying more fireworks. This year, many of the companies that usually export fireworks to the United States have started selling to Europe instead, because they have had a lot of orders there. Since June this year, the Chinese province of Hunan has exported more to Europe than to the United States. From January to July this year, Hunan Province exported fireworks worth 1.27 billion yuan to the European market, which is a 74.8% increase. Exports to Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom were 460 million yuan, 140 million yuan, and 120 million yuan, respectively. This is an increase of 101.9%, 142.7%, and 49.2% respectively.
In the first seven months of the year, Hunan Province exported fireworks and firecrackers via water transport worth 2.88 billion yuan, an increase of 22.6%, accounting for 97.4%. Meanwhile, exports via road transport amounted to 77.316 million yuan, up 66.3%.
The Changsha Customs have said that a new, more efficient route for fireworks exports has opened up. This is because a direct shipping route has been created from Yueyang Chenglingji Port to Russia's Eastern Port. Before, fireworks had to be sent to Russia via Europe, which meant it took longer and cost more. A new shipping route from Chenglingji Port to Russia's Eastern Port means that it now takes less than a month to transport goods to Russia, and the cost is much lower. Thanks to the new shipping route, it is much easier for China to send goods to Russia, and Russia now wants to import more fireworks from China. In the first seven months of this year, Hunan exported fireworks worth 55.609 million yuan to Russia, which is 80% more than the same period last year.
